- I have a college degree from outside of the U.S. Can this be used as a waiver for the U.S. high school diploma or U.S. GED?
  
  NO – Only a degree from a U.S. accredited college can be used as a waiver for this requirement.
- I received a diploma or GED from a country OUTSIDE of the U.S., but earned a college degree from a U.S. accredited college. Do I meet the U.S. Diploma/U.S.GED requirement?

- If certain crimes such as burglary are on the rise, why do police use their limited resources on traffic violations or to provide security at parties and special events?
  
  Officers on patrol are encouraged to proactively address issues in their assigned districts when they are not responding to a call for service. The Police Department also has a Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) which is deployed to areas with patterns of traffic collisions and violations. While the TEU does operate on a cost recovery model, patrol officers do not have any quotas for the number of tickets to issue.
  
  In addition, an on-duty officer may direct traffic if a traffic signal is not in service or to redirect traffic at the scene of an accident or crime. This is done to maintain the safety of drivers, pedestrians and others on the roadways. However, police officers that you see directing traffic or providing security may actually be working secondary employment and are considered off-duty.

SJPD Fitness Series - SJPD Applicants Only

The San Jose Police Department is currently hosting SJPD FITNESS every Wednesday evening.
This fitness series will help you prepare for the WSTB Physical Fitness Test and prepare you for similar workouts in The SJPD Police Academy.

You will be working out with other applicants who are also in the testing process and with the SJPD Recruiters and Academy TAC Officers.

South Bay Academy - Physical Agility Practice Sessions

South Bay Academy offers an instruction and practice session for the Physical Agility Exam.

The Oral Board Interview Workshop prepares applicants for the Oral Board Exam. An applicant’s final grade is comprised of the oral interview score plus any applicable veteran preference points and determines seniority within the testing cycle. This workshop covers key areas included in the Oral Board Exam.
