Communications Specialist
Being a dispatcher for the San Jose Police Department means serving as the vital link between the community and law enforcement. It requires quick thinking, strong communication skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure while handling emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching officers, and ensuring public safety.
Salary: $87,862.32 – $106,753.92
- Dispatch police units on routine and emergency calls.
- Maintain accurate records of the location and status of public safety units.
- Inquire, interpret, verify, receive, and disseminate information from law enforcement computer networks relating to wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, etc.
- Perform PCS duties when requested

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Pass a police background check
Customer Service Experience:
- PCS- 1 year working with public contact
- PRD- 1 year of customer service or 1 year dispatch experience
